3 Career Lessons That You Can Take From Rachel Green

Reading Time: 3 minutes

FRIENDS is one of my favorite series and why not? Don’t you agree that it’s an evergreen series? Recently, while watching the series, I realized that the character that showed the maximum growth in the FRIENDS series is undoubtedly Rachel Green. Starting with zero ideas about anything remotely related to a job to finally getting impressive offers from both Louis Vuitton and Ralph Lauren, she became a career hero. And trust me, I am not saying this just because she ended up with lucrative jobs but because we all ended up seeing her entire growth journey. So without further ado, let us begin the career lessons that you can take from Rachel Green.

Lesson 1: Be Independent

It is not cool to be dependent on your parents money once you are officially adult. If you are over 22 years and still depend on your parents for your pocket money, it’s time for you to make some serious changes in your life. It’s time for you to work. It will be scary but it will be worth it! I am not asking you to do a full-time job but every now and then, you can try your hands at freelancing.

Lesson 2: Settling For A Job That You Don’t Like Is Okay

In the millennium era, there are so many posts out there where people are screaming at the top of their voices that doing a job from 9 to 5 is dull. Does it seem like everyone needs to be an entrepreneur but is it even possible? Let me tell you, for a beginning, it is okay to settle for a job that you dislike. Let’s be honest, we all felt like taking that fancy European trip after watching “Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara” movie. But how many of us could really afford such a trip? Well, let us forget about luxury. Let’s us talk about the bills that you to pay! Without a financial cushion, whom will you depend on to make those transactions? It’s simple if you have bills to pay, get the job even if you dislike it. Once you manage to secure a roof over your head, you will have the freedom to quit your job. Once you have the money, pursue your passion but till then, bear it.

Lesson 3: In The End Do The Job You Love

You need to love your job. Well, you might point out here that this lesson is contradicting the previous lesson. If you dig a bit deeper, you will realize, there is no contradiction. Previously, I was talking about taking a job to meet your immediate necessities. If you are able to earn money while doing a job that you love, it’s great! However, if you do not like doing the job, you will have to change it someday. Once you have managed to stand on your feet, make sure that you have enough disposable income to push you towards a job that you actually love. When you are passionate about something, you excel at it and instead of Saturday, you will be looking forward to Mondays.
